The Importance of Being Earnest, Oscar Wilde's witty play about two gentlemen living in late Victorian England, is being staged by New Buckenham Players in the village hall on July 26, 27 and 28 at 8pm each night.

It is being directed by Caroline Wood, a 17-year-old who has been involved with local amateur dramatics for the past seven years. She is currently finishing her BTEC National Diploma in Musical Theatre at Norwich City College.

Full of extravagant characters, the play sets out to display the hilarious side of the Victorian's social ideas, with deception, flamboyancy and good old fashion manners.

Ranging from 16 years and upwards the cast all come from different backgrounds and for the younger members this is one of their biggest challenges yet, as they take on the main roles and display their passion for the theatre.

Tickets £6 (£5 concessions) can be purchased in advance from Lovell's in New Buckenham or by calling the box office on: 01953 861165. Tickets can also be purchased on the door. Licensed bar and amply car parking.
