People in Attleborough are being encouraged to get on their feet and take steps to beat heart disease.

They are invited to take part in sponsored walk, being held in the town on Sunday, which also sees the launch of a new scheme called 'Fit Together' - a project that is being delivered county-wide by Active Norfolk and Lloyds Pharmacy. It aims to encourage the uptake of new activities to benefit health, particularly among those aged 55 years and over.

The walk also gives people an opportunity to raise money for the British Heart Foundation.

Brenda Clabburn, the charity's fundraising and volunteer manager for Norfolk, said: “Heart disease touches us all. Every year thousands of people suffer a heart attack or are diagnosed with a heart condition. Walking is a great way to regain fitness and keep healthy.”

The British Heart Foundation is co-hosting the event with the Breckland and Brandon Walking for Health Scheme. The walk is about 3.5miles, leaving Town Green, in Queen's Square, Attleborough, at 10am. Registration is between 10am and noon, and there is a shorter route option.
