Wymondham Music Festival reaches a climax on Saturday with a thrilling day of African dance and music. With a free event, two contrasting workshops and a concert featuring the amazing talents of Norwich based Anna Mudeka and her band, it offers something for everyone.

The first event of the day is a regular Music in the Market Place and features Wymondham based drumming group Drumskin. This popular group performs regularly in the area. The event is free and starts at 10:00.

In the afternoon there are two workshops where you can develop your own skills in African music and dance. If you're reasonably fit and able you'll love the African Dance Workshop. This is led in her characteristic ebullient style by Anna Mudeka. The workshop runs from 1:00 to 2:30 pm in the Wymondham Baptist Church, Queen Street. The fee is £5. It is essential to book in advance through Kay Southgate - call her on 01953 713108 or email her at kay.southgate@wymondhamhigh.norfolk.sch.uk

The second workshop is an instrumental one entitled Rhythms and Riffs. Led by local jazz musician Trevor Rowland, it is suitable for acoustic guitar, brass and woodwind players from about grade 3 standard who are able to pick up simple tunes by ear. Trevor is a well respected as a gifted teacher. He is also a regular member of Anna Mudeka's band. The workshop runs from 3:30 to 5:00 pm and also takes place in the Baptist church. The fee is £5 and, again, advanced booking is essential, so contact Kay Southgate.

The final event of the day is a performance by the Anna Mudeka Band. This starts at 7:00 pm and takes place in the Baptist Church. Tickets are available in advance from the Book Fountain in Wharton's Court, from the Festival Office (ring 01953 601939) or on the door. Prices are £6 and only £2 for children. The concert starts at 7:00 pm - the organisers have gone for an earlier than usual start time to make it accessible for the whole family. Even the youngest music lover will delight in the sights and sounds of this energetic band.

'Once you listen to the rhythms of Africa, you have to give it your soul'. Anna Mudeka is regarded one of the best African dancers and singers of her time. Over the last 15 years she has worked with some of the top musicians on the world music scene and her music heritage continually re-invents itself. Her gritty, soaring vocals and rich instrumental virtuosity provides the basis for a typically uplifting African style. She's backed by a band assembled from most corners of the globe, but now based in Norwich.

The band line-up is Anna Mudeka - vocals, dance, mbira, shakers, Trevor Roland - sax, guitar, vocals, Olli Lukkari - lead guitar, José Ferrera - djembe, vocals, Samantha Everett - vocals dance and percussion, Glennis Masuku - dance and vocals, Paul Fitzgerald - bass, Barry Jones - drums
