Pirates and African Art will feature in events at Hethersett Library next month.

A pirate party featuring songs, stories and things to make with a pirate theme will be the highlight of the morning on 10th October. The activity, which is suitable for pre-school children with their parents and carers, will run from 10.15am to 11.15am and is part of National Bookstart Day.

The following day Hethersett artist Jocelyn Jacobson will be marking Norfolk Black History month with a morning celebrating African tales and legends. She will be holding a children's workshop to teach them how to tell a story through art from 10.30 a.m until noon.

Jocelyn, who grew up in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe), will also have her African themed paintings on display in the library throughout October. Booking for this event is essential on 01603 810188.

Jocelyn's art can be viewed on her official web site at www.jocelynjacobsonartist.org.uk
