WYMONDHAM Choral Society is presenting a concert in aid of the Balloons4Hearts charity on July 12 in Wymondham Abbey (7.30 pm).

Now that the new angiography suite at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital is open, the hospital, along with NHS Norfolk and the Ambulance Trust, is looking to launch a system which aims to give patients life-saving treatment within 90 minutes of first feeling pain in their heart.

Representatives of the charity will be at the concert to give the audience the latest facts and figures, and hopefully to collect for the further development of the service.

The concert will feature two works by Pergolesi: the famous soprano duet Stabat Mater and the choral Magnificat, two by Handel: the coronation anthem Let Thy Hand Be Strengthened and the contralto solo Art Thou Troubled? and will end with the popular Gloria by Vivaldi.

Soloists Anna Trent and Bridget Snasdell (sopranos) and Sarah Parkinson (contralto), who all sang in the Christmas concert in Attleborough last year, make a welcome return, and cathedral organ scholar Ben Giddens will accompany them. They will be conducted by musical director Claire Dixon.

Tickets at £8 (£7 concessions) are available from the society's sponsors Reeves, or from The Book Fountain (both in Wymondham), or from Prelude Records in Norwich, or on the door.
