NEW Buckenham Music festival is giving visitors the chance to see hours of local live music for free - and this year it's teaming up with the BBC.

The free festival has attracted the likes of Josh Weller, Letetsuo and Lisa Redford in recent years, and on Sunday, May 25, organisers are promising at least eight hours of live, local music at their outdoor venue in New Buckenham.

For the first time BBC Norfolk Introducing will be hitting the road to join the event, with a special set featuring some of the best bands featured on the weekly show on BBC Radio Norfolk.

Other festival bands have the chance to prove themselves good enough to get an airing by the BBC and could end up being spun by Huw Stephens on his Radio 1 shows. Local bands featured by BBC Norfolk Introducing may also be chosen to play a session at Maida Vale studios.

“This is a great opportunity for local unsigned bands to play in a large outdoor venue and to have a chance of being spotted by the BBC,” said Pete Marshall, one of the festival organisers.

The event, on the village Hall field in New Buckenham, will also feature a mini-beer festival serving local beers from micro breweries,

stalls, food and a children's funfair.
