WYMONDHAM travelled to Caister missing numerous players but put in a battling display to run out 2-1 winners.

This was a notable win in difficult circumstances, everyone involved deserved credit.

The game started off at a frantic pace with Wymondham showing well. The first chance of the game fell to Caister but their striker shot wide when well positioned.

The next talking point came with an injury to a Caister player, with their winger taking exception to this, an occurrence that by the end of the game became rather tedious.

Town duly took the lead following a well floated free-kick by Wells who found Williamson at the far past. He had the relatively simple task of putting it past their keeper from six yards out.

Town held onto their lead but survived one major scare. The Caister winger cut in from the left and crossed to the striker who from seven yards out but he hit the post. The rebound fell kindly to the Caister striker but he drew a save from Hodges with Williamson clearing the rebound.

Town started the second half slowly with Felgate and Morphew having to be strong in defence. Town always looked a threat on the break with Pipe being a willing runner for the ball over the top.

Caister began applying some pressure and following a succession of corners Caister eventually forced the ball home.

Town showed good character and nearly responded immediately with Plumstead on his full debut shooting over from 18 yards. Town still continued to press, with Catchpole not quite connecting from a trademark Speller cross.

Caister did have their chances with their striker going through one-on-one but Hodges saved. With just 10 minutes to go Town got their third. A deep cross from the Town right eluded the Caister defence and keeper.

It fell to Plumstead who scored on his full debut after his promotion from the A team.

McCloy nearly made the game safe with a customary skilful run but just ran out of stream. Town held strong despite some high crosses being put into the box in a frantic final few minutes.

The spirit was epitomised by Ramsbottom who was playing out of position and closing down right to the very end.

Man of the Match: Morphew, did not miss a thing all game and did what he is good at.
