Hundreds of players old and new will be joining in a weekend of celebrations for the final first team game at Wymondham Rugby Club's Tuttles Lane home.

The club is moving to a new ground over the summer and Saturday's home friendly against Lowestoft and Yarmouth will bring a chapter of local rugby history to a close after more than 40 years.

To mark the occasion, past players will be joining the club's current squad as well as hundreds of young players and supporters to celebrate the end of an era.

'It's a big moment for us,' said club chairman Andrew Kilby.

'We've built up a lot of memories here on Tuttles Lane over the years and though we're moving up to something bigger and better, lots of former players as well as parents and friends will be here on Saturday to say goodbye to the old place.'

Saturday's event may also make history with a world record for the biggest ever rugby tour.

Wymondham are being joined by young touring sides from Ampthill Rugby Club in Bedfordshire and Cheshunt Rugby Club in Hertfordshire.

Ampthill RFC plan to bring more than 280 young players and supporters for a day of minis rugby, which would beat the current Guinness World Record.

Saturday's celebrations are open to all and kick-off at 9.30am with the minis games. An old boys' match follows at 11.30am and the main first team game starts at 3pm. There will be a celebration lunch, entertainment and live music in the evening.

The game was originally scheduled to be a league fixture but Lowestoft & Yarmouth withdrew from London Three Eastern Counties earlier this year because of a lack of players. They are regrouping for next season at a lower level and agreed to play the game as a friendly to ensure Tuttles Lane was given an appropriate send-off.

Wymondham 's new ground and clubhouse are currently being built on a site less than a mile away off Norwich Common.

Wymondham play their final league fixture at Newmarket on April 14.

Diss resume their London One North campaign after a break for Easter with a home match against Fullerians, who stand one place above them in the table in ninth position.

Diss will be aiming to build on a 19-15 win at Ruislip in their previous fixture.
