Wymondham Town turned in a good display at Sheringham but still returned home with nothing to show for their efforts after a 3-1 defeat.

Town started brightly but couldn't find a way through Sheringham's defence and it was the home side who struck first. The Rooks had three chances to close the Sheringham striker, but allowed him inside to turn and shoot home past Matt Ducker's dive.

At the other end Stuart Felgate's powerful header flew just over and Jason Hynd had the ball in the net, after a neat return pass from James McCloy, only to be ruled offside. The home keeper nearly turned Chris Priests' cross into his own net but grabbed the ball at the second attempt. Wymondham deserved more but trailed 1-0 at half time. Into the second period Rob Browne was lively for Town and it was he who brought the scores level at one a piece with a low shot under the keeper. Town were on the attack again but gave the ball away cheaply and Sheringham went straight down the other end to restore their lead. The Rooks still pushed but time and again their final ball was found wanting. Late on Tim Downs half volley had the keeper at full stretch and Rob Browne curled an effort just wide. As Wymondham went in search of an equaliser Sheringham added a late third to run out 3-1 winners.

This Saturday Wells visit the Kings Head Meadow in what now looks like a must win game for Wymondham.
