WYMONDHAM Town entertained Sole Bay and ground out a narrow win.

The game started off with Town on top and trying to continue their recent good form. The first opening came from a surging midfield run from Priest who forced the keeper into an excellent save.

Next to come close for Town was Williamson. He was superbly played in by Pattison - he turned the defender but could only blaze over from close range.

The Rooks did have a couple of scares at the back, largely of their own making as they were guilty of overplaying in the wrong areas.

The half finished with Sole Bay on top.

The second half saw a catalogue of missed chances at both ends.

For Town Pattison had one cleared off the line after chasing down a through-

ball.

Rackham came close after a powerful run from left-back. He drew the keeper but could only smash the ball against the post with Pattison unable to adjust his body shape in time to slot home.

The other notable chance came from Stannard. He was unable to convert after an excellent cross from Catchpole. It was certainly not all one-way traffic with Sole Bay failing to convert after being well placed on at least two occasions.

With the game seemingly heading for a goalless draw Town needed a hero and it came in the form of Chris Priest.

He applied all his understanding of angles and placed the ball into the bottom corner from 20 yards.

This was of huge relief to Town but harsh on their opponents.

The defence deserve much credit with Felgate and Hill again working well at the back, they were ably supported by full-backs Rackham and Cracknell.

Ramsbottom also worked hard on the right wing in what was a team performance.

Man of the match went to Chris Priest, who worked hard all game but gets the award for the moment at the end of the game.

The game was also notable for a good performance from the referee.
