With the score at 60-2, Alan Thompson (32) joined Rust to put on 80 before Rust was bowled for 71. With some big hitting from Toby Bawden (36) who took New Buckenham to 188 before running himself out, and the tail showing some resistance to push the score to 194-9, leaving Pete Marshall (0no) yet to be dismissed this season.

New Buckenham took early wickets to put the pressure on Norwich Union, Sean Duncan getting both openers and Alan Thompson opening the bowling and despite conceding 20 runs in his first two overs, finishing with 2-40 off 12 overs.

At 42-4 Unions Eastick and Hewitt batted 12 overs to steady the ship before Eastick dragged on off Pete Marshall's (1-30) bowling. Duncan came back on to claim two more wickets to give him figures of 4-44 before Toby Bawden (2-28) had Hewitt caught by a great catch on the boundary by Richard Ferry for 71.

New Bucks finished by bowling Norwich Union out for 147, a great team performance.
