CONNAUGHT Bowls Club, Attleborough, overlapped the indoor and outdoor seasons to win short mat's Breckland League Dennis Moore Tournament played at Lakeside, Lyng.

The Dennis Moore Tournament comprises four disciplines, singles, pairs, triples and fours for each of which prizes are won.

The overall winner is the side scoring most shots.

Connaught A won the fours through Bill and Diana Adcock, Sylvia Parsons and Peter Hambling and finished runners-up in the singles where Lee Fallows lost to Wymondham's Chris Mann in an exciting extra-end finish.

Connaught As pairs and triples did not reach their finals but scored enough shots to help Connaught A to a total of 108 against the 105 for runners-up Wymondham.

Connaught B fielded a full complement of players who had some good wins in the round-robin stage.

On the green Bill and Diana Adcock and John and Heather Winup won their first-round match in the National Mixed Fours by 30 shots to 11 against a four from Caister-on-Sea skipped by Bernard Wymer.

In the Champion of Champions Ray Wells led by 20-10 against John Tufts at Hingham but amazingly could not clinch the win and lost 20-21!

In the National Over-55 Singles John Winup lost 9-21 to Peter Scott at Thetford.

Coaching continues on Saturday 10am to 12pm, members of the public very welcome. Dress informal but wear flat-soled shoes.
