Wymondham began their rugby campaign against Beccles in September and, like a pair of bookends, the final game is against the same side.

In that first meeting Beccles looked likely to be one of the favourites for the league title and their consistent performances throughout the season have seen them fulfil their ambitions, becoming league champions with two games left.

Unbeaten at home this season, Beccles will be looking to celebrate winning the league title and promotion to London Two in some style. A victory for the home side will see their run of home league victories extended to 20.

Wymondham, on the other hand, would really like to avenge that opening-day defeat, but with such a poor away record the odds are not favourable.

The season, whilst not spectacular, has seen a small improvement over last year when Wymondham finished in ninth on 18 points.

The Thirds, second in the league, join the senior side with a Norfolk Merit Table fixture over Beccles II who, like their first team, are favourite to secure the league title and promotion to Division One.

Wymondham Seconds are at home in the Merit Table with Diss the visitors.

Wymondham II 53, Crusaders RFC 5

Wymondham's second string ran in eight tries in this re-arranged Woodforde's Norfolk Merit table fixture. A promising Crusaders attack was turned over following some strong tackling, releasing Josh Cousens down the right for a 70m return.

Ian Burchett slotted a penalty before Ian Sweeney got a converted try under the posts following a sublime set move that put Wymondham 15 points up. Crusaders then lifted their game, keeping Wymondham at bay and came close to scoring. Cousens then got his second.

In the second half Wymondham stretched away, a hat-trick from Alex Brugger. His first was created by an inspired offload from George Mitchell but it was his pace that was just too much for Crusaders.

Martyn Dunsdon crashed over from short range and Will Mitchell went in for Wymondham's final score, Jonathan Payne converting. Crusaders kept battling and got the try their efforts deserved.
