Wymondham ran in 10 tries and achieved their goal of keeping a clean sheet against struggling Ely Tigers to keep both teams securely placed at opposite ends of the table.

After a number of unforced handling errors, Jonny Wyatt eventually found Will Mitchell in a well executed backs move and the right winger outpaced the covering defence for the first converted score.

Minutes later quick-thinking scrum half Adam Couzins darted blind from the attacking scrum to make the score 12-0.

Wyatt then converted two tries of his own following blindside breaks.

Almost immediately after the break Couzins sniped from the base of a ruck and found Matt Scott on hand to take the scoring pass. Couzins then scored himself after Nick Greenhall had jinked through. Scott bagged a brace when he raced over out wide.

In-form winger Mitchell completed a hat-trick and tighthead prop Lee Summers finished the day off when he powered through to score under the posts.

The highlight of the match for the Wymondham supporters, however, came in the last 20 minutes of the match when Jon Moorfoot took to the field.

The 46-year-old skipper came off the bench only eight weeks after having been hospitalised with a burst appendix, signalling a remarkable return to fitness.

The final score was 66-0/
