CONNAUGHT Bowls Club, Attleborough, have had two weeks of concentrated action - mainly in the Breckland League.

Connaught A found a run of good form with three successive wins away from home.

Watton were beaten 73-56 and 7-3, Hingham B by 85-42 and 8-2, and Carleton Rode by 70-50 and 10-0. Any lingering hopes of winning the Breckland League then floundered in a crunch match at home to pace-setters Wymondham.

Connaught A lost 58-70 and 4-6, winning two of the four triples matches but going down on overall shots to a side which played slightly the better on the night.

Wymondham now seem poised for their first Breckland League title after a good season while Connaught A must battle for second place against Banham and Yaxham.

Connaught B could not help their senior side, losing away to Wymondham by 39-94 and 0-10. Despite the score Connaught B did battle hard against what is a more talented side.

Connaught B then had a good win at Forncett by 73-58 and 6-4. Connaught B have regrouped a bit this season and can secure a mid-table position with reasonable results in their last three matches.

Connaught completed their South Norfolk League programme by losing 39-51 and 4-6 at home to certain league winners, Hempnall.

Connaught won the first two triples but could not sustain the effort against arguably the best side in Norfolk.

However, Connaught did make sure of second place behind Hempnall - a good achievement when club policy is to field a mixed-strength side in the South Norfolk League.
