TACOLNESTON recorded a comprehensive 174 run victory over Sprowston B on Saturday, aided by fifties from both Andy and Martin Guy and an impressive six for nine from skipper James Crane.

Sprowston won the toss and put Tacolneston into bat on a wicket that had taken a lot of rain during the week and predictably offered variable bounce. After Crane went early on, Cook and Andy Guy put on 99 for the second wicket, with Guy scoring his third successive fifty for the club.

Cook was then joined by Martin Guy, who hit a cameo 57 including six sixes. Cloete was the pick of the lower order batsmen, striking 32 not out in eight overs to push the total up to a creditable 230-8 from Tacolneston's 45 overs.

In reply Crane and Martin Guy both bowled accurate unbroken 12-over spells, between them taking eight wickets for only 25 runs from 24 overs. Only opener Austin and Davy reached double-figures for the visitors, who at one point were reduced to 31-8. The tail enders helped move Sprowston's total past 50, but the result was never in doubt with Hawkes bowling Yallop in the 32nd over to seal the win.
