THE Hethersett Hawks/Swinton & Co team had a false start to their new season with snow forcing the league match at Eaton Park to be called off.

The first team and the youth team will now both open their accounts at Ipswich this coming Saturday.

On Sunday, Hawks riders have the opportunity to race in the opening South-East Grand Prix round at Somersham.

The eagerly-awaited first action at the refurbished Memorial Playing Field track will be on Tuesday with the first club night of the season at 6.30pm to which newcomers, all ages, are welcome.

The track was amazingly dry throughout the recent wet spell, despite the rest of the field being under water.

This is due to the extensive drainage work completed since Christmas and for which the parish council have kindly donated £200.
