Senior service for TJ

Norfolk's British number one skier TJ Baldwin has been called up to the national GB senior squad for the first time.

The 19-year-old from Tharston, who took three junior titles and two senior second-place finishes away from the recent British Championships, will be the youngest member of the 11-strong national team for the 2010-11 season - not bad considering Baldwin does not reach senior age until July 1.

“It is great to be part of the team that will prepare to go to the Sochi Winter Olympics in 2014,” said Baldwin. “I'm really happy to be selected, that was one of my goals and was the next step forward. Now it's all about training hard and making the Olympic team in four years.

“All being well I will be there and push for a top 20 finish.”

There is a long road ahead with the World Senior Championships in 2011 and 2013 and many World Cup races too.

“I'm doing the full Europa Cup downhill, super-G and super combined programme again next year, with hopefully a few World Cup races thrown in.”
