Horsford 0, Wymondham 1
BEFORE this game against Horsford, Wymondham managers Cracknell and Parry declared they would be happy with a scrappy 1-0 victory, and the players delivered on this instruction.
Town started at a frantic pace and applied good pressure with O'Brien and Browne, in particular, looking very dangerous.
The breakthrough came when Priest delivered in a cross from the left which was diverted into his own net by the home defender.
The Rooks looked to extend this lead and came close when Ramsbottom smacked a shot against the bar, with the rebound just eluding the Town players.
With the fit-again Ethridge alongside Seaman, Town were rarely troubled although Horsford gradually got a foothold in the game.
Wingers Ramsbottom and Rackham were looking dangerous and put in some great deliveries, but only half-chances were created.
A strong feature of the half was how full-backs Cracknell and Downs linked up with the attack and delivered some dangerous crosses.
The second half was more even and the game ebbed and flowed at a frantic pace.
Browne crashed a shot into the side netting and Priest fired over when well set-up by substitute Butler.
Horsford could point to some gilt-edged opportunities to equalise in the second half.
They hit the bar from a free-kick, the alert Seaman had to hack off the line and McKinney just over-ran the ball while one-on-one.
The real drama was reserved with eight minutes to go.
Nichols won a penalty after keeper Hodges had been adjudged to have brought him down.
This was a controversial incident but justice was served when Hodges saved the resultant penalty.
Hodges then had to deny Nichols in a one-on-one situation in the last minute.
A real battle and Town were pushed all the way by their hosts.
MoM: Priest and Webb in centre midfield worked incredibly hard but for his passing and commitment it went to Priest.
Wymondham travel to Watton this weekend, kick-off time is 2pm.
