Cromer Town 2, Wymondham Town 0

WYMONDAHM Town played in the Mummery Cup, buoyed by their victory the previous week.

Ducker and Seaman both came in for their senior debuts and both played well. The game started evenly, but neither keeper was being worked. Speller was working hard in midfield to break up play giving Town great momentum.

Cromer started to push on, with Williamson and Seaman both having to make last-ditch tackles.

Cromer's pressure paid off when their skilful right winger squared to give the striker an easy opportunity to smash home. Town nearly replied when Rackham was thwarted by a fine save.

At the start of the second half Town applied some good pressure. Chris O'Brien battled his way through the defence but was denied by an excellent save, with the rebound just eluding Rackham.

Priest delivered a super cross but from a tight angle, Rackham saw his super header land on the roof of the net. Almost inevitably, Cromer broke away and scored the crucial second after Town were caught square at the back.

The team who took their chances won the game but it was largely even. MoM: Gary O'Brien, excellent match at full-back.

Wymondham Town Reserves were in the CS Morley Cup at home to Poringland Wanderers Reserves.

Town were awarded a corner which Wells struck to the far post for the ball to be prodded back where Stone was standing for a simple nod home for the opener.

Town applied a little more pressure and were rewarded with a free-kick which Plumstead delivered into a dangerous area only for Stone to narrowly miss. Poringland nearly added an equaliser but they hit the side netting.

Town had another chance when Wells was set free down the left, putting in a low cross which Stone managed to prod goalwards, only for the sprawling keeper to block.

In the second half a corner from Wells saw Brown go close with a headed effort which the keeper tipped over the bar. A 10-minute spell saw Poringland apply a little pressure and went close with an effort cleared off the line by Bates following a goalmouth scramble.

Town weathered the pressure, which was largely of their own making. The referee then allowed advantage to be played after a late foul on Plumstead, Wells then crossed from the resulting throw in only for a defender to head past his own keeper for an own goal.

Ten minutes later Poringland did pull a goal back after a free-kick

MoM: Adam Plumstead with an excellent defensive display.
