TWO teams representing the Tas Valley Riding Club claimed second and fourth placings in a hotly contested team event on the second day of the Royal Norfolk Show.

The standard was superb with 17 teams representing hunts, clubs and colleges from across Norfolk and Suffolk.

This was the first time that all six riders and horses have competed in the team event, so there was plenty of apprehension and excitement taking part at a county show on their first outing representing the club.

With a turnout inspection, a flatwork display and the jumping section there was everything to go for; the object of the class being that the riders and horses are attired as similarly as possible and remain riding abreast at all times.

The Tas Valley bay team consisted of Weazel Vincent riding Pogo Pumpkin in the centre with Lindsey Fraser (Good Gracious) and Georgina Thorley (Cherry Brandy), they produced a sparkling display of togetherness with plenty of boot polish ending up on the breeches!

A very unfortunate pole down in the jumping section was the only hiccup for what was a truly great performance earning them a very pleasing fourth place.

The second team to represent the club was the grey team headed by Emma Girling in the centre riding Phantom Spirit with Hannah Vincent (Ashfield Bobby Rose) and Laura De'ath (Sir Jacob Jacobee).

There were plenty of pre class jitters for this team but a fabulous display with not enough room to “swing a cat” between all three of them in the flatwork show, followed by a really precise jumping display gave them the honours of taking second place behind the very polished eventual class winners from Easton College.
