Connaught Bowls Club, Attleborough, are coming to the tail end of the league season although much competitive bowling still remains.

In South One of the men's EBA league Connaught A have found themselves in a relegation scrap with several sides in a very tight division.

A 59-51 (points 4-1) win at Scole was followed by an excellent result, 57-57 (3-2), at home to champions Gissing. A last-match defeat, 35-69 (0-5), at Swardeston made nerves flutter but the inconsistent Connaught side has done enough to stay up.

In South Two Connaught B lost their way despite an encouraging start to the season. A 41-87 (0-5) defeat at fellow strugglers, Diss B, ensured bottom place and the season ended with a 48-61 (1-4) defeat at Norfolk CC.

Connaught Ladies are in a secure second place in the Breckland League behind Thetford. Momentum was maintained with 6-2 wins away to Wymondham Dell and at home to Mundford.

In the Ashill and District Mixed Triples League Division One, Connaught A are finishing strongly with wins by 6-2 at Watton A, 6-2 at home to Swaffham A and 8-0 at Thetford B. In Division Two Connaught B won 8-0 at Wymondham Dell B but lost 3-5 at home to Mundford A.

Also in Division Two Connaught D won 5-3 at Mundford A but lost 3-5 at home to Northwold. In Division Five Connaught C lost 0-8 at home to Thetford C and 2-6 at home to Mundford B.

On Saturday (2.30pm start), Connaught stage the opening round of their Invitation Shield, a mixed rinks competition featuring the Ashill, Bradenham Diss and Connaught clubs. Thanks are due to sponsors, Marjorie and Vernon Plumpton and Thelma West.
