Home advantage proved decisive in all three first round ties in the Norfolk Senior Cup on Saturday.

Horsford United manager John Davies predicted a tough match for his side and so it proved to be as they edged past Long Stratton 1-0, whilst Poringland Wanderers also went through by a single goal as they beat Reepham Town 2-1.

The afternoon's big winners were Wymondham Town who thumped Hindringham 6-1. Luke Rackham 2, David Ramsbottom 2, Gareth Downs and Chris Priest were on target for the Rooks with Carl Pask replying for the visitors.

Manager Steve Cracknell was very satisfied with his side after the game: “I'm delighted to have won. After an even start we got on top and were 3-0 up at half-time and we added a 4th shortly after the break. We've got a young side and showed a bit of naivety to let Hindringham back into the game, but we kicked on again and finished up comfortable winners.”

Cracknell's side travel to Dersingham Rovers in the second round. “I'm looking forward to it. It will be good to play against a Premier Division side. We haven't done too well in the cups in recent seasons so hopefully we can put together a bit of a run.”

Revised second round draw: Sprowston Athletic v Stalham Town, Sheringham v Wells Town, Dersingham Rovers v Wymondham Town, Loddon United v Caister, Watton United v Bradenham Wanderers, Poringland Wanderers v Norwich St John's, Horsford United v Holt United, Spixworth v St Andrew's.

Matches to be played on Saturday September 25 (ko 2.30pm).
