HETHERSETT and Tas Valley Cricket Club opened its historic new season with a seven-wicket defeat at the hands of Saham Toney in a home friendly.Hethersett won the toss and elected to bat with a mixture of first, second and young players in their side.

They notched 191 in 38.5 overs with youngster Tom Brandon Street top scoring with 49.
In reply, Saham Toney scored 193-3 in 39 overs.

This weekend the club has two more matches as it prepares for its first-ever season in the prestigious Norfolk Alliance.
On Saturday Hethersett visit Garboldisham in a friendly and on Sunday the club opens its Mid Norfolk Sunday League Division One campaign with a home match against Fakenham (1pm start).
