Morley Village were looking for their third straight victory as they welcomed Thorpe Village to the Derek Daniels Playing Field.

The game began brightly with Morley quickly on top and showing the confidence from their previous two victories.

Morley took the lead in the 10th minute when Simon Brighten produced a fine run down the right, followed by a stunning cross which found Neil Quinsey in the box who volleyed the ball home.

This seemed to spark Thorpe into action and they equalised when their forward collected the ball and coolly rounded the Morley keeper to score. Morley were facing the strong wind in the first half and needed to defend strongly to go in at half time level. The second half was all Morley Village as they produced some nice football to take the game to Thorpe.

Morley took the lead when following a succession of corners the ball fell to Simon Brighten on the corner of the area, he flicked the ball up and then volleyed it into the top corner of the net.

The Morley forwards were now becoming increasingly threatening and Neal Stannard was eventually rewarded for his skilful running when he scored a wonderful solo effort.

Thorpe were unable to penetrate the Morley defence with Carl Bates and Chris Johnson again looking very strong in the centre of the rearguard.

The final Morley goal came when a wonderful, long, pin-point clearance from Lee Brown found Dinky Darkins on the left corner of the Thorpe box. Once there he volleyed the ball over the keepers head from fully 25 yards.

There was still time for the Thorpe keeper to save well following efforts from Matthew Beasley and Steve Parry who had been well found by a pass from Paul Macissac.

An entertaining game though was to have no more goals and it finished with Morley victorious by 4 goals to 1.
