Medals haul for Wymondham club

WYMONDHAM Judo Club has tasted success again - this time at the BJC(MAC) National Judo Championships.

They came second overall in the national medal table.

WYMONDHAM Judo Club has tasted success again - this time at the BJC(MAC) National Judo Championships.

They came second overall in the national medal table.

All 28 players from the club that attended the event in Gillingham, Kent returned with medals - and the final club tally was six gold, seven silver and 15 bronze.

Head coach Chris Claydon said: “We were really pleased to take this many players to the Nationals, and even more pleased and proud that they all won medals at this level of event.

“To come second overall nationally is a great achievement for the club, but we won't be resting on our laurels - we want to be number one next year!”

Results: U8s and junior under yellow belts: Gold, William Booth, Rebecca Anderson-Brown; silver, Oliver Purllant, Taylor Morris; Bronze, Maddie Sanders, Megan Thomas, Elsie Sturdy, Harvey Lake, George Allen, Owen Sully, Alexander London, Jack Travis.

Junior all grade: Gold, Megan Wolstenholme (Girls 32kg), Alexander Tonnison (Boys 30kg), Ashley Harrop (Boys 66kg); Silver, Toby Goodrum (Boys 30kg), Jacob Ritchie (Boys 46kg), Kiya Claydon (Girls 44kg), River Morris (Girls 57kg); Bronze, Amelia Sturdy (Girls 36kg), Sherridan Dye (Girls +57kg), Thomas Goodrum (Boys 30kg), Jack Purllant (Boys 30kg), Fenn Morris (Girls 44kg).

Intermediates (16-18 years): Gold, Adam Claydon (Young Men 66kg); Silver, Laurence Oakes (Young Men 66kg); Bronze, Emma Thomas (Young Ladies 72kg). Senior: Bronze, David Booth (Men 74kg).
