THREE players from Attleborough's Connaught Bowls Club - Sheila Bragg, Andrew Stratton and Russell Hales - represented Norfolk in the National Short Mat Fours finals played at Northampton.

THREE players from Attleborough's Connaught Bowls Club - Sheila Bragg, Andrew Stratton and Russell Hales - represented Norfolk in the National Short Mat Fours finals played at Northampton.

They were playing with Sue Hunt from the Bob Carter

Centre and had qualified after a good performance in the Norfolk County finals.

The four players won their round robin matches, quarter-final and semi-final matches at Northampton to reach the final.

They then lost their first match of the day to strong opposition, featuring current England internationals, but had played extremely well to reach the final.

Meanwhile, in the league's Connaught B have one main ambition at this stage of the season - to avoid finishing bottom of the Breckland League.

They went some way towards it with a win against Harling Rec and a narrow defeat at Forncett.

Connaught B beat Harling Rec at home by 71-57 and 8-2.

Results (skips' names): J Barnes 19-12 v R Stevens, A Marshall 20-13 v D Court, K Lurcock 11-16 v R Meek, T Musk 21-13 v B Knappett.

Connaught B then lost 54-73 and 4-6 at Forncett.

Results: J Barnes 17-14 v T Ottewell, T Musk 13-11 v D Rumsby, A Marshall 12-27 v A Aldridge, K Lurcock 12-21 v P Lock.

With two matches to play Connaught B are now two points ahead of Harling Rec, who have one match to play.

In the South Norfolk League Connaught lost 50-52 and 4-6 at Wreningham.

Results: J Barnes 10-11 v A Symonds, K Lurcock 9-20 v G Adcock, S Bragg 13-11 v J Goodrum, T Musk 18-10 v J Greenwood.
