Attleborough Town lost 4-3 to visitors Stalham Town.

They have every right to feel hard done by after a last-minute defeat at the Recreation Ground on Saturday.

Lady Luck has not been a regular feature of Attleborough's season and the contentious decision to award a last-minute corner, when even the players for Stalham had resigned themselves to a goal kick, added to the incipient sense of foreboding.

Of course, the corner was duly dispatched and the visitors victory claimed.

However, Attleborough can take heart from a fine second-half performance that was capped by Daniel Whitman scoring three goals of contrasting quality.

The first owed much to a pitch that wrong-footed the Stalham keeper before rolling over the line; the second was claimed after determination to beat the defenders, round the keeper and caress the ball into the unguarded net whilst the third came after good work from his strike partner Kane Wetteland.

However, this all came after a poor first half during which passes went astray and Boro were only kept in the game by several fine saves from veteran stopper Barry Wells.

Despite the performance of their guardian, Boro were still two goals down by half-time. The introduction of Jason Edwards into a re-shaped back four gave Attleborough and Whitman the impetuous to claw themselves level and then take the lead.

A resurgent Stalham piled on the pressure in the last quarter of an hour, claiming an equaliser before the referee's decisive intervention gifted them an undeserved three points.
