Wymondham AC chairman Karl Chapman thanked all runners for supporting the event and club members for organising another great race.

Leading home the field was Jezz Cox from St Albans Striders.

In his first road race this year, the experienced duathlete was pleased with his performance on the day and although he missed out on his target time, he still ran an excellent time of 57:22, over two minutes ahead of the next runner in deceptively warm conditions.

Jezz said he enjoyed it and that he would tell his club-mates about it for entering next year.

Next home was Gareth Wilson, who travelled to East Anglia to represent Glossop Dale Harriers, and was rewarded with a second-place finish in a time of 59:29. The first local athlete home was Simon Millett, from Norwich Road Runners, to finish a creditable third place, posting a time of 59:53.

In the ladies' race, City of Norwich AC (CONAC) claimed the top three places with some impressive running from their ladies. First home was Emma Coombes, completing the scenic course in 65:21.

Jane Clarke ran a solid race to further progress her comeback, finishing second with a time of 67:00.

Finishing the podium slots for CONAC was Eleanor Matthews, who finished four seconds ahead of fellow CONAC Rose Waterman to take third place, although Rose was still good enough to take the first senior female placing.

The next Wymondham AC event is the Autumn 5k on September 14, and entries are now available online via www.runnersworld.co.uk or www.wymondahmac.org.uk

Wymondham AC meet every Monday at Wymondham Rugby Club, Tuttles Lane, and have sessions for beginners and experienced runners alike.
