Attleborough Town have been in high spirits of late, beating promotion hopefuls Bungay and Aylsham while also seeing past Scole. On Saturday they entertained Mundford.

The high-flying hosts who started the better, Attleborough were pressing high and producing plenty of dangerous opportunities.

The ball was played in behind the Mundford centre back and with Tom Miles using his pace he got to the ball first forcing the keeper to bring him down. Steven Wright buried the penalty into the bottom corner.

It should have been 2-0 shortly after.

A ball over the top of the defence again freed Miles. The attacker was through on goal and had almost too much time as his indecision to shoot or not eventually allowed the keeper to gather the ball.

A dangerous free kick from Mathew Brown fell to an unmarked Charlie Smith who could only smash his header against the post.

Mundford created an opportunity down the left and the unmarked winger Thorogood was allowed to drift in and head home to pull the Stags level.

The game immediately got worse for the hosts as Mundford carved an opening through the heart of Attleborough; Bland was through on goal beating Alistair Beales to the ball. The Attleborough man could only trip the attacker as he ran across him forcing the referee to give a penalty. Ben Coe made no mistake from the spotbefore half time.

As the game progressed neither side could take the initiative with Attleborough desperate for a hero to step up. Robbie Evennett when called upon was a solid pair of hands in goal catching a dangerous free kick under pressure.

The Attleborough management reshuffled the tactics and introduced a double substitution. The pairing of Greg Mann and Jamie Venables came on in the centre of the park after both missing recent games from injury and illness.

Even with three strikers on the field Attleborough could not find the equaliser that they were hoping for, leaving Mundford to take home all three points.

Attleborough were left to rue their missed chances early on and will be hoping for a better display this weekend after simply not being good enough for a large portion of the game.
