A FINE team performance saw Hethersett and Tas Valley make it six wins out of six and took them back to the top of Norfolk League Division One with closest rivals Old Buckenham tying with Acle A.

This week Hethersett firsts visit Great Melton, the B team are home to Lowestoft II and the C team visit Garboldisham.

Hethersett notched a comfortable 67-run victory over Norwich B and never looked in danger of losing.

Indeed Norwich's only chance of salvaging something from the game came in the shape of intermittent rain. Openers Richard Ellis and Carl Puttock got them off to a fine start with a half-century partnership before Ellis was bowled for 32. Matthew Ellis (24) and Simon Redhead (59no) supported Puttock well as he looked certain to reach a century only to top edge a ball and fall for 86. Dave Cosford (15) and Nick Burrett (17) produced a late flourish as Hethersett reached 255-5.

Hethersett had the luxury of using nine bowlers with spinner Asad Abbas the most successful on 3-42. Norwich finished on 188-9.

Hethersett A had a comfortable 150-run victory over Kirkley and Lowestoft Railway A.

Hethersett batted first and scored 192-9 with Craig Edwards hitting 54. Hethersett skittled out the opposition for just 42 with Edwards capping a fine all-round match with 4-12 and David Austin 3-3.

Hethersett B were beaten by seven wickets at home to Great Melton C.

Hethersett scored a respectable 183-9 with Sam Smith hitting 52. Melton made light work of their target, hitting 184-3 in 34.5 overs.

Hethersett found Brooke too strong for them as they bowed out of the Bernard Matthews 20-20 Cup in a match restricted to 16 overs. Brooke scored 143-4 and then restricted Hethersett to 116-5 with Richard Ellis top scoring with 41.

Hethersett enjoyed two midweek 20-20 cup wins. They beat Sheringham by 63 runs in the third round of the Challenge Cup. Hethersett elected to bat first and scored 121-7 with Lee King and Nick Burrett both making 27.

The bowlers were in sparkling form, restricting Sheringham to 58 all out with Matt Steward recording the remarkable figures for limited-over cricket of 3-4 from four overs. Steven Beck took 3-24.

Hethersett got a four-wicket win over Hardingham in the Wensum Cup quarter-finals. Hardingham notched 105-5 from their 20 overs with Jack Smith and Matt Ellis both taking two wickets. Hethersett reached their target for the loss of six wickets with Simon Redhead and Lee King retiring on 30no.

Hethersett U11 lost by 26 runs in the Norfolk Alliance U11 League. Diss scored 276-4 and Hethersett replied with 250-8.

Hethersett U16 lost to Great Ellingham U16 by one wicket in a friendly.
