HETHERSETT Athletic Ladies kept their dream of a league/cup double alive with a terrific win the semi-final of the League Cup at Ipswich Wanderers' ground.

Facing a big, strong Haringey Borough side without four regular defenders (one cup-tied and three away on a college trip) they knew they were up against it.

The situation was worse by half-time as they trailed by 2-1. They worked hard in the second half to secure a 4-2 victory despite a blizzard and now face Barking in the final on April 27.

Hethersett scorers were Nicola Bray (2), Nicola Stolworthy and Gemma Smythe.

This Sunday Hethersett have a tough league match away to Peterborough United.

Hethersett Athletic men's first team faced Delaneys, who last week had lifted the County Cup at Carrow Road.

The young side rose to the occasion and manager Ross Potter was full of praise for the spirit and workrate they showed against some of the best amateur players in the county.

They missed a penalty when the score was 0-0 and the cup winners only won the game with two goals in the final 20 minutes.

Hethersett Reserves battled really hard in their relegation contest away to Thorpe Rovers.

It was not going to be their day with one disallowed goal and two penalty claims turned down but the team played well enough to earn a 2-2 draw with goals from Lewis Allen and substitute Paul Martin.

The result still leaves the team in the bottom two but they will now have to wait and see if they go down.
