HETHERSETT Athletic Saturday's top-of-the table-Crown Fire South and Central Norfolk Division Four game against second placed Hindolveston was called off due to a frozen pitch.

However, the team saw some action in the form of a league presentation.

Top scorer Danny Gray received the league's team of the month award for August and September from league assistant secretary Mick Utting.

The award of a new match ball and framed certificate marked a remarkable start to the team's first season with a 100 per cent record in August and September in both league and cup competitions.

The team currently sit proudly on top of Division Four with 12 wins out of 12 and have a seven point gap between themselves and Hindolveston.

This weekend they will be hoping for another giant-killing act when they visit Division Two side Hingham Athletic Reserves in the Ben Smith Memorial Cup, having already knocked out Division One side Mulbarton Wanderers.

In making the presentation Mick Utting praised the club for its success to date: 'It is always good when a new team enters the league and proves so successful,' he said.

Only two Hethersett Athletic teams saw action over the weekend. The Girls U16 Hearts team travelled to Bohemians and stay top of their league after a 1-1 draw with their goal coming from Hannah Waters.

It was another first class performance from the girls. They went a goal down in the opening minutes but hit back to equalise and would have won but for some excellent saves from the Bohemians' goalkeeper.

The club's U15s had a problem fielding a side and went down 12-1 at Old Catton.
