Hethersett Hawks' Tiffany guns for title

PUBLISHED: 19:34 09 September 2010

HETHERSETT Hawks/Swinton and Co cycle speedway club had four riders in the third national round of the Wosskow Brown British Youth and Junior League Grand Prix at Wednesfield that attracted a record attendance of 187.

Tiffany Collins enhanced her position at the top of the girls’ 12 to 17 category in a thrilling final that saw Tiffany and her main rival pass each other five times.

She now has a 15-point advantage going into the final round in Wales at the end of the month, meaning a place in the B final or above will give her the title.

Carly Grimes had two good wins but got shut out in the B final at the first corner.

In the very competitive U18 category there was another thrilling final to round off the day when Dan Chambers and the series leader Luke Draisey clashed on the last bend and Phil Adams slipped as he tried to pass them both, leaving a mad dash for the line which did not favour the Hawks riders in the end.

Hethersett staged a well-attended Norfolk Grand Prix last week with 31 riders. Chambers took the chequered flag in the senior final with Scott Grimes also wining the U16s.

On Saturday, Tim Grimes and Mel Perkins
are at Great Blakenham for the British
Over-40s Championship while on Sunday Hethersett riders race in the South-East Grand Prix at Kesgrave.
