HETHERSETT and Tas Valley Cricket Club are looking forward to the new season with a great sense of optimism.

A working party of club members spent much of Saturday preparing the ground and the clubhouse under the NatWest Cricket Force 2010 scheme which saw 1,642 clubs and over 85,000 volunteers taking part in a sprucing up weekend aimed at rejuvenating the nation's cricketing facilities.

Players, coaches, supporters, friends and families combined at Hethersett's Flordon headquarters.

These are heady days for the Norfolk club. Grants have bought new modern state-of- the-art covers and also a repeater scoreboard to work alongside the existing electronic one.

This season the club will be the home ground of the Norfolk Ladies' team and plans are well advanced for a new clubhouse. In addition, the club is working towards the prestigious national Clubmark award.

On the field, Hethersett will once again be running three Saturday teams and one Sunday side.

The Saturday teams will play in Norfolk Alliance Division Three, Norfolk Alliance Division Five and the Norfolk League Division Seven. The Sunday team will compete in the Mid Norfolk First Division.

The club will also be taking part in the Carter Cup, the Norfolk Cricket Officials' Cup, the Lady Mary Trophy and the Bernard Matthews and Wensum Knockout Cups.

The club will be running junior teams at U11, U13 and U15 levels in the South Norfolk Community League and the Norfolk Alliance Junior League.

The club will also have a full fixture list of friendlies against both local and touring teams.
