HETHERSETT Athletic Ladies began their defence of the Eastern Region League Cup with a fine 5-1 victory over fellow Premier Division club Chelmsford.
The match was switched from Chelmsford after the Essex club's pitch was found to be unplayable for the second week running. Hethersett adapted well to the new 3G pitch at Thorpe and took the game to the opposition from the start.
Emily Coates hit a hat-trick and Kate Ellis and Hazel Shepherd were also on the scoresheet as Hethersett breezed into the quarter-finals of the competition they won last season.
This week Hethersett are due to visit Chelmsford in the league. The club is holding a special development evening at Park Farm Hotel on March 2 for players from the adult ladies' team and players, parents and guardians from the club's girls' teams.
The evening will unveil important developments in the women's and girls' set-up at the club.
