Hethersett aim to play leapfrog

HETHERSETT and Tas Valley are home to table-topping Horsford A on Saturday knowing that a win or a winning draw will see them leapfrog their opponents.

The team's unbeaten run in Alliance Division Two stretched to five matches as they achieved a winning draw at Beccles.

Hethersett came up against stubborn resistance at Beccles.

The visitors batted first and found runs hard to come by early on. A mid-innings revival saw them reach a very healthy 232, with the last wicket falling off the last ball of the innings.

John Curtis top scored with 64, Matt Ellis hit 39 and Richard Ellis 33 and there were valuable runs at the end with Julian Emeny hitting 15 and Phil Walmsley 22.

Beccles were restricted to 165-8 with Julian Emeney taking 2-41, Matt Ellis 3-27, Devin Bellchamber 2-10 and Lee King 1-31. Hethersett were unable to capture the final two wickets for victory.
