GREAT Ellingham A hosted Rocklands A this weekend in a local derby crunch match.
Rocklands won the toss but struggled to score well, finally succumbing for 86, with L Bartlett top scoring with 17. Ellingham, however, bowled well, with F Garrod (2-13), W Thompson (2-11) and A Potter unlucky to finish with 0 for 16.
The star of the Ellingham bowling attack, though, was J Hawkins with a prestigious personal best of 5-16 off 8.1 overs.
In reply, Ellingham started well, with W Thompson and D Thompson posting 12 of the first two overs.
The falling of these wickets, however, sparked a mini wobble in the batting, but R Southall (12) and a determined innings from Garrod (18no) settled it down. Garrod, well supported by J Clarke (5no), guided Ellingham home with 11 overs to spare.
The pick of the Rocklands bowling attack was L Dodson (3-21).
