Wymondham secured the Eastern Counties League One title with a comprehensive 51-0 defeat of Fakenham, backing the Norfolk Cup winner's claim to be the most successful side in the county this season.

Despite Wymondham's all-conquering form, Fakenham made the champions-elect work hard for every point in a physical battle.

They started aggressively and their ability to turn over the ball in contact disrupted the home team's continuity. D espite this, when the ball was eventually spun wide, winger Ian Harris danced in and out of the opposition defences before scoring under the posts. Jack Peacock converted.

Five minutes later, flanker Tom Williams scored following a clinical catch and drive from the pack and prop Lee Summers added another when he powered over from 10 metres out.

Summers returned the kick off with interest and fed speedy flanker Richie Howlett, who burst through the cover defences before off-loading to Tom Coller, who dotted down out wide.

Harris completed his hat-trick before further tries by Summers, Peacock and full-back Gavin Shepherd.
