Great Melton's Bank Holiday tour to Hertfordshire — their first in four years — proved a great success with a party of 18 travelling to play Watford Town and Old Haberdashers.

An innings of 51 from Martyn Cook and 34 from Tim Hales helped Melton to 175 all out against Watford who were then dismissed for 156.

The following day Joey Greenslade (56) and Lee Whiddett (35) were the main contributors as Melton's tourists, who were based at Baldock, made 207 but Old Haberdashers chased them down with just one over and three wickets remaining.

In the junior section Kai Wilkinson-Loines finished one run short of his maiden 50 as the Under-15s' match with Horsford ended in a tie while Lohit Kannan and Ben Fletcher both scored unbeaten 30s in the Under-13s' 83-run victory at Great Witchingham.

It was much closer for the Under-11s who beat Mattishall by four runs and the Under-9s who lost by two runs at Topcroft.
