There were three wins out of five for Great Melton's senior teams with the firsts moving to the top of the Alliance Division Three with a third successive victory, this time at Sprowston A.

Richard Waddell's 3-14 plus two wickets apiece for Aslam Mohammed, Tom Grant and Arron Garner saw the struggling home side dismissed for 129 on a lively pitch.

Jason Whiddett (45) and Matt Clarke (21) got Melton's reply off to a reasonable start before a clatter of wickets caused some concern but Waddell and Garner took Olly Harris' side to a fairly comfortable four-wicket win with unbeaten knocks of 27 and 24 respectively.

Having lost their first game at Snettisham by nine wickets, Simon Woods' second team have followed up with two nine-wicket victories. The latest came against Cromer A who were bowled out for 143 by Nick Mackenzie whose figures of 6-20 were his best for the club.

Cromer moved to 71-1 before Mackenzie was introduced and his spell of 9–2-20-6 completely blew away the top and middle order. Ryan Hayward, Marcus Mawby, Moye and Matt Henderson also picked up a wicket each before Tim Hales continued his excellent early-season form with 70 not out. Lee Whiddett missed out on a half-century for the second week in succession but his 47 helped Hales take Melton to victory in the 35th over.

The B team were well beaten at Southwold with only skipper Matt Rushton showing any real form with the bat, contributing 63 in his side's 119 all out. The total was never likely to be enough and some big-hitting from Gareth Gorst-Allman ensured the home side won inside 26 overs. Well supported by young Ezra Fuller (19 not out), Gorst-Allman hit 101 out of 123, a remarkable innings.

Melton C enjoyed a close match against Topcroft B. Melton looked well in control with the visitors' batsmen seemingly having no answer to the guile of Dale Weston (10-5-8-3) and Clive Rennie (10-6-4-1). Topcroft had some experience of their own, however, and David Reeder (58 not out) and former Melton player Ian Bettridge (35), prospered against the change bowlers, taking Topcroft to 164-7. It proved three runs too many for Melton despite 42 from Duncan Greenslade and some late hitting by Weston (27) and Kevin Ellis (20); 3-22 for the experienced Bettridge made him the best Topcroft bowler.
