Old Buckenham Ladies HC's first team managed to finish the first half of the season on a high with a 3-1 win against UEA and continued this high into the new year with a 6-2 win against Louth.

Old Buckenham suffered a defeat the last time they met but had a convincing win on home turf.

The first goal came from Helen Larwood who managed to convert from a very tight angle.

The second soon followed with a goal from Fran Halstead set up by a cross from Nicki Day.

Louth managed to get one back with a quick break from an Old Buckenham's short corner and the sun at eye level didn't work too well with Old Buckenham's goalie.

The third goal, scored by Sarah Foulger, put Buckenham in a comfortable position for the second half and had the advantage of having the sun behind them.

Goals quickly racked up in the second half coming from the same three players all wanting the hat-trick being fed by Nicki Day from the corners.

Louth got the second goal from a penalty flick after Kimberley Pigg got a body ball which blocked the goal, luckily no injury was sustained.

Player of the match went to Helen Larwood who displayed a great ability to pass players and work with the team.

The second team beat hosts Magpies V 4-1. Old Buckenham applied the pressure from the start and continued through the game with some excellent play from Lillie Pomfret and Millie Clarke.

The pressure gained Old Buckenham a penalty flick which was converted by Lizz Shaw.

Buckenham dominated the play with youngster Millie Clarke getting her first goal of the season.

In the second half Magpies came out strongly, taking a very quick goal.

Old Buckenham did not falter and went on to score two further goals coming from Shaw for a hat-trick.

Buckenham showed great team work which impressed the supporters as well as both umpires.

Player of the match was given to Millie Clarke.
