WYMONDHAM Town Reserves' first home game of the season saw them host Marlingford and with a heavy downpour just before kick-off, the opening minutes were a scrappy affair, with both sides struggling to get the ball down on a very slippery surface.

The Rooks opened the scoring when Stone netted in the far top corner over the advancing Brown in goal whilst under pressure from a defender.

Both teams appeared to be coming to terms with the conditions and soon Marlingford equalised. Town were then forced into an early substitution just before half-time, when the injured Plumstead was replaced by Speller. The half-time score was 1-1 and a further substitution was made during the break, with Pike replacing Wright.

The second half saw Town restore the lead with a Bates header from a corner five minutes from the restart, only to be pegged back again five minutes later.

After some good passing from the away side, Town found themselves behind for the first time in the match when Wortley slotted the ball past Ducker. The game was level again 10 minutes from time when Speller curled a free-kick from outside the box into the top corner past a static Couldron in goal.

The home side started to apply a bit more pressure, and were rewarded with the winner when McCloy netted deep in injury time. MoM: Tom Seaman, for a solid defensive performance.

Next game is Aylsham away.
