Thorpe Village 0 Attleborough Tn 3

Attleborough travelled to Thorpe Village looking to end the run of dismal results that has plagued their Anglian Combination Division Two campaign in recent weeks.

The game started brightly for Boro and they looked dominant, demonstrating the passing game they are becoming known for.

Aaron Chalmers got his first start for the first team and made an immediate impact partnering Dan Whitman up front. A number of chances were created, but the ball would not sit for the final finishing touch.

After 25 minutes Chalmers used his strength and touch to hold up the ball then weighted a fine pass through to Whitman who finished passed the oncoming keeper.

The Boro defence, marshalled by Matthew Colley, looked organised, linking play through the midfield. Stevie Wright and Sam Lawrence were the engine in the Boro midfield ensuring that any efforts from Thorpe were extinguished fast.

Within seconds of the second half starting Chalmers had taken control 25 yards out, finishing past the stranded keeper.

Ten minutes later substitutions were made and two minutes later Chalmers had delivered a cross from a corner with sub Charlie Smith heading home with his first touch.

Boro then proceeded to boss the rest of the game, but were unable to forge another clear chance. Chalmers left his mark on the game with a goal and two assists, making his step up to first team football look like a natural progression.

This victory has been a long time coming and Boro are now looking forward to their trip to Bungay FC on Saturday.
