Flotman found it hard to find that killer instinct required in these types of games and surprisingly went in at half-time being held by the visitors in a dull, scrappy 0-0.
The second half was slightly better and we finally scored when a cross from the left by Luke Appleton found Andy Snape unmarked in the box.
He controlled the ball first time with his right, setting himself up nicely to volley into the top corner. The game needed that!
With 10 minutes to go, Newton were awarded a free-kick on the edge of the box. Owen Southgate took it, and struck a dangerous inswinging ball into the box which eluded everybody including the keeper and crossed the line to make the score 2-0.
Flotman have now secured a very respectable sixth-place finish, and can be proud of their achievements over a difficult season.
