TWENTY female JFO leaders (Junior Football Organisers) from Wymondham High School led a football festival to complete their young FA leadership award.

The girls organised the festival of football fun for 30 youngsters from two cluster schools, Robert Kett Junior and Wicklewood Primary, following the completion of their initial JFO course.

They drew up a timetable of activities to deliver, which included fun warm-ups, small-sided matches and skill work.

Representatives from FA Charter Standard Club Wymondham Town United were on hand to encourage and support both the players and the young leaders, with a link between the schools and the club set to follow.

Indeed, the young players from the Robert Kett and Wicklewood have in previous weeks attended training sessions at the club and now some of the young leaders will follow, acting as voluntary support coaches.

Jonathan White, from Wymondham Town United, said: “The day has been fantastic and I was really impressed by the young leader's organisation skills.

“This project will undoubtedly help the club develop our girls' programme in the future.”

Meanwhile Darren Moss, Norfolk County FA's Girls and Women's Development Officer, was thrilled to see the girls who he tutored through the JFO course perform so efficiently on their big day. “It has been a great success. Both the players and leaders have excelled themselves and the real winner today has been girls' football in the area.”
