HETHERSETT Hawks/Swinton cycle speedway team staged the Norfolk U19 Championship at the Memorial Playing Field and the event was won by former Hethersett rider Dan Chambers.

The best home riders were Philip Adams, who failed to capitalise on a favourable draw, and speedy 15-year-old Scott Grimes. Both tied on 17 points, three behind the winner and two behind runner-up Josh Colby. Scott drew the inside starting position for the race-off for third place and held off the challenge of Phil to take the chequered flag.

Ben Collins fell in his last race while chasing Dan and lost his chance of a trophy while Oliver Buxton also impressed.

Ben travelled to Poole to race in the Junior Laurels, a major invitation event, where he scored 10 points. Tiffany Collins had an excellent day finishing second in the Girls Laurels event.

This Saturday the Hawks' Veterans team are in Leicester for the British Club Championship and on Sunday several Hethersett riders will be at Ipswich for a South-East Grand Prix while Tiffany Collins is in Newport for the Welsh Open.
