End in sight for Connaught
CONNAUGHT Bowls Club, Attleborough, have reached the closing stages of the competitive outdoor season.In the club's Invitation Shield, with each side fielding three mixed fours, Ashill beat Diss and Connaught beat Bradenham in the opening round.

In the club's Invitation Shield, with each side fielding three mixed fours, Ashill beat Diss and Connaught beat Bradenham in the opening round.
In the final Connaught beat Ashill, winning on overall shots and also winning two of the three matches played. Diss had a comfortable win against Bradenham in the play-off for third/fourth position.
Connaught won both the Shield and prize money of �150, with Ashill winning �75, Diss �50 and Bradenham �25. Sponsors Marjorie and Vernon Plumpton and Thelma West are thanked for their support.

In the Breckland League Connaught Ladies had 2-6 home defeats, to Thetford and Ashill respectively, but won 6-2 at Watton.
In the Ashill Mixed Triples League, Division One, Connaught A finished the season by losing 2-6 at home to Ashill A, winning 6-2 at Thetford A and drawing 4-4 at home to Swaffham A

Also in Division One Connaught B won 6-2 at Aldiss Park and drew 4-4 at home to Watton A.
In Division Two Connaught D won 6-2 at home to Bradenham A and 6-2 at home to Thetford B in Thetford's only defeat of the season. Connaught D finished runners-up to Thetford.
In Division Four Connaught C beat Watton C 7-1 at home but lost 1-7 at Diss B.
