Jeremy (Jez) Clark began his defence of the 2009 Porsche Club Motorsport Championship with two dominant wins at the first two rounds at Donnington Park on Sunday.

His new Porsche 944 S2 class 2 car was only completed the week before the race meeting and, with no time or money to test it, there was a nervous team awaiting the start of the first qualifying session.

After spending a few laps bedding in the new brakes and tyres, Clark quickly set to getting to grips with the more powerful engine and brakes than last year's class 3 car, and set his fastest lap time on the final lap of qualifying with a time a full second quicker than his nearest class 2 rival.

To the surprise of all concerned, this placed the County Classics Racing Porsche in sixth place overall on the busy 27-car grid.

From the start of race one Clark fought against the more powerful Class 1 cars, finally finishing the Class 2 winner by 16 seconds and finishing in eighth place overall in front of nine of the Class 1 racers, and setting Class 2 fastest lap in the process.

The paddock was buzzing following the astounding result and the fact that the car had been so fast 'straight out of the box,' a testimony to the skill and expertise of County Classics Racing Ltd.

However, all was not plain sailing in race two as during the preparation for the second event the team found that the left rear shock absorber had failed, and with little time available before the race it was decided to push on for another Class 2 win.

Starting this time from fourth on the grid, Clark hounded the leading cars for 5 laps, swopping places with the top six cars until eventually deciding to protect his Class 2 win.

Finishing seventh overall and with another fastest lap in the bag, he has acquired the overall lead in the 2009 Porsche Club Championship, but with 16 races still to go, the team will now need to focus on the next event at Anglessey on April 18.

Jeremy is currently funding his racing himself, though this cannot last, therefore team are still offering low-cost advertising space on the Porsche for advertising partners wishing to join with the team for the 2009 season.

Meanwhile, Porsche GB have confirmed that Jeremy's 2008 Porsche Championship award, a fully supported 'one off' drive (with TV coverage) in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB will take place at the British Touring Car Championship meeting at Snetterton on between July 30 and August 2.
