On a night of exciting football at Aldiss Park, Wymondham Town A ran out worthy winners in the final of the Chequered Flag Primary League Cup, 2-1.

Swaffham Town A were under pressure from the first whistle, but were able to repel any high balls put into their box and started making attacks of their own, with a lobbed shot landing on the roof of the net with Guy helpless in goal.

Firm tackling by Clarke kept Wymondham's goal safe for the rest of the half, which ended goalless.

Grey then opened the scoring with a fantastic volley that sent hundreds of supporters wild and minutes later, hit an even better strike which the Swaffham keeper somehow tipped onto the bar.

A well-weighted pass inside the full-back led to Swaffham's centre forward slipping a shot past the keeper for the equaliser and a succession of chances at both ends followed.

It fell to Morris to secure the cup. He received a pass from Overton on the right wing and cut inside towards the penalty box, his left-foot shot caught the defence by surprise and it curled into the far corner of the net.

Wymondham were content to guard their lead, but this nearly backfired in the final minute when Key sliced a clearance across the face of his own goal, but no attacker was able to touch the ball into the empty net.
